It is with great sadness that the National Family shares news of the passing of Sir Edmund Lawrence, the esteemed founder of St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Limited. Sir Edmund was more than a visionary leader; he was the cornerstone upon which our institution was built. Sir Edmund Lawrence was a distinguished leader who significantly influenced the financial framework of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union. He was revered as an elder statesman in the banking fraternity in the Caribbean region and beyond.
Sir Edmund pioneered financial empowerment in St. Kitts and Nevis through the institutions he founded to promote broad-based financial inclusion. Under his astute leadership, he founded the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Ltd. and expanded its services to include insurance, trust management, and real estate through the creation of National Caribbean Insurance, National Bank Trust, and Mortgage Investment Company. The institutions he established continue to foster economic growth, enabling generations of entrepreneurs, homeowners, and families to transform their lives.

As a resolute public servant, Sir Edmund served as Governor-General with humility and compassion, prioritizing the welfare of his people and advocating for universal education and economic inclusion.
