St. Kitts & Nevis, September 13, 2024 — In a heartfelt move toward greater inclusivity, St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank (SKNANB), on Thursday 12th September proudly announced the official opening of its wheelchair ramp and entrance, designed to meet the needs of persons with disabilities. This initiative is indicative of the Bank’s belief in its responsibility to foster an environment where every customer, regardless of ability, is accorded the opportunity to be served.
The Board of Directors of SKNANB, led by Chairman Carol Boddie, has made the provision of easy access a key priority for customers who need it. This reflects the Bank’s deep commitment to inclusion and access for all. The Directors on hand to witness this momentous occasion were excited to see this important initiative come to fruition.
“Our vision for National Bank has always been rooted in the principle of inclusivity and care,” said Anthony Galloway, CEO of SKNANB. “This new easy access entrance is both a physical structure and a commitment to ensuring that every member of our community, regardless of ability, feels welcomed and valued when they walk through our doors. We are proud to take this step toward creating a more accessible future for all.”
Managing Director, Mr. Terrence Crossman emphasized that this project is part of a broader mission: “At National Bank, we believe in breaking down barriers, both financial and physical. This easy access entrance ensures that all members of our community can fully participate in the services we provide.”
The highlight of the event was a ribbon-cutting ceremony, during which President Joseph Bergan, Vice President Rockliffe Bowen and PRO Anthony Mills of the St. Kitts and Nevis Association for Persons with Disabilities (SKNAPD) were the first to use the new ramp and entrance. The President of SKNAPD praised the Bank for its leadership, saying, “This is a great moment for persons with disabilities in St. Kitts and Nevis. National Bank has taken a meaningful step toward accessibility, and we are grateful for their dedication to making this happen.”
Representing the Ministry of Aging and Disabilities were Program Coordinator Marecia Browne and Program Officer Travia Douglas. Their participation signaled a strong collaboration between the Bank and key stakeholders, not just in the community, but in government as well.
Accessibility is about dignity and independence. By making the wheelchair ramp and entrance a reality, National Bank, with this thoughtful and purposeful step, reaffirms its role as a leader in inclusivity and self-reliance, ensuring that every individual, regardless of ability, can access and enjoy the services they provide.
